It has been another super busy year in the Samphire studios for this experienced portrait photographer Sussex. I want to say a massive thank you to all my amazing clients. I truly get to meet such fantastic people and whether you are with me for a longer newborn session or a shorter milestone session, it is always a pleasure to meet each and every one of you.
NEWBORNS
My newborns in 2019 have been a joy, with lots of old clients coming back to the Samphire studio for their second sitting with me now that baby number two (or three in some cases) has arrived in their households. Which means that not only do I feel like I am seeing old friends again, I also have the honour of photographing their next child, as well as the pleasure of catching up with the new arrival’s siblings now that they have grown and are developing their own personalities. There is nothing I like more that a chat with a young sibling. I could quite simply spend hours just chatting to many of the little children who come in to the studio! I have also met many brand new clients who I know will visit again as their families grow.
Newborn portrait sessions are one of my favourite types of session. Whether your little one is a super sleeper or a super ‘awaker’, I enjoy them all, always ending up with a great selection of images which I show clients in their online galleries. It is from here that they then have the hard choice of selecting which to purchase and give a forever home to, either on their walls or in albums to show their children as they grow.
Here are just some of my newborn images from 2019. I hope you like them as much as I do.
MILESTONE
It is not just newborns that have graced my studio. I also offer milestone sessions to older babies, and sitter sessions for children who are able to self support confidently and are not yet crawling. These come a close second to newborn sessions for me (along with cake smashes that is!). As you can see from the selection of images below, they are all styled and really capture the beauty and personality of your little one as they grow and develop into their own little person.
CAKE SMASH
After milestone sessions come cake smash sessions. Whether you love them or hate them you cannot deny how great the images are. Session are all individually styled by me, as per Mummy & Daddy’s wishes, and the cake is ordered from my amazing local baker, Mrs B Bakes. This ensures that your cakes are always as super fresh as they are gorgeous, and fit in perfectly with the session. The rest is all fun fun fun, whether your child gets stuck in or is a little more nervous about tucking in to a giant cake all to themselves. I have plenty of experience to ensure that the images are the best they can be for you.
When parents come up with new themes, I love it. This year saw the Cookie Monster coming to the studio, as well the jungle, unicorns, dogs, rainbows and lots of lemons for one particular girl! I love the creative challenge of styling new sessions as well as changing around my firm favourites such as the woodland theme. Making sure that you all receive something that is personal to you.
Which one do you like the most?
I can’t forget the splash session which all children, if they are happy, of course, get to take part in. The splashiest session this year has to go to these gorgeous twin boys… In this case double definitely meant more mess!!!
See what I mean!
FAMILY
Outside of all the fun and frolics of the studio I also take time out to photograph families outdoors. This enables me to capture some really natural images of you and your children as they grow. Always something to be treasured are images with Mum and Dad in them too. Children benefit from the security of seeing themselves in family portrait up around the house. It gives them a sense of place and well-being. Not to mention it captures images of parents which we are all too quick to shy away from taking. We tend to avoid being in them simply because we want to lose those few extra pounds or we are having bad hair day… Let me tell you your children don’t see any of these things. They see Mum and Dad who they love no matter what they look like. They want present, not perfect.
MATERNITY
Love love love maternity sessions! Although it is not always a time when we as women feel at our best. It it such a special time that I definitely think it is worth recording. From mummies expecting twins to second-time-around mummies to mummies who are at the start of their journey into parenthood. I have photographed them all this year. Again, I feel truly honoured to be allowed to capture this amazing time.
Wow! I think that is pretty much most of what I have covered this year and, as always, it has been a pleasure and I would like to thank everyone who chose me as their photographer this year.
Wishing you all a wonderful New Year and I look forward to seeing faces both old and new in 2020.
I love being an experience portrait photographer Sussex.
