If your little one is approaching their first birthday, you’ll probably have read my recent blog What is a Cake Smash? and you may be inspired to book in for a session. Such a fabulous, fun way to celebrate this special milestone! But are you finding it hard to settle on a theme? In which case, read on and let me help. I have seen all sorts of requests in the Samphire studio. So many colour choices and ideas. So if you’re looking to book in for a Cake Smash Haywards Heath you’ve come to the right place.
Pick a Theme, any Theme
A Cake Smash is all about fun. And the fun starts in the planning stages. We love to design each and every session bespoke to your requirements. So tell us your ideas and we’ll get planning.
You may already have a specific idea in mind. That’s great. We’re all ears. Let’s talk, let’s create your vision. We’ve designed a fair few in the Samphire studio. Jungles, woodlands, under the sea. Dinos, dogs, foxes. Rainbows, unicorns, mermaids. Just a few of the themes we have brought to life. Have a look at the Samphire Photography Pinterest board. Loads of inspiration there. But don’t be limited by what you see. The only limit is your imagination. Get creative.
However, if you are struggling to settle on a theme, do not worry. Let us help.
Can’t Decide on your Cake Smash Theme?
It’s more than okay if you can’t settle on a theme. There’s so much choice out there, perhaps even too much choice. There are many things to think about when choosing a theme it can be hard to decide. It can make your head spin. So let’s narrow focus by considering three things…
Where, oh where?
A really good place to start is considering where you intend to display the images. You will have a wonderful selection of fantastic images and you’ll want them visible. It’s so important to not just leave them lying in a drawer, or worse still on a memory stick. The importance of printing the images is huge. So are they for your child’s room, or somewhere else in your home? Think of the colour scheme they will be in amongst. What colours would compliment this? This will give you a really solid starting point for your theme. But if you want go with bright colours, pastel tones, or even black & white even when it doesn’t necessarily tone in anywhere, then do it. We want to make this a fun fun fun experience. And if your precious little one has a favourite colour, let’s run with that.
What do they love?
Is there something that makes your little one smile? Makes them laugh? Brings them joy? The Cake Smash is, after all, a celebration of them. So if they adore aircraft, or love lions, or think that lemons are the best thing EVER, then that’s a pretty good idea for a theme. Perhaps a favourite animal, toy, book, or song? All great starting points for their Cake Smash Haywards Heath to grow from.
Meaningful to you
Maybe there is something special in your life that you, as parents, would like to be included. Perhaps a career choice, or travel destination – outer space, anyone?! What about a hobby of yours or favourite pastime as a family? If there is an aspect of your life that has special significance then let’s build on that. Yes, this Cake Smash is to celebrate their first birthday but also to celebrate your first year as their parents. So if you’re a digger driver or an avid reader, let’s design the Smash around it.
Seasonal Themes
Spring gardens, summer picnics, autumnal pumpkins, and of course Christmas!! Each season lends itself to certain plants and flowers, fruit and vegetables, holidays and celebrations. Depending on when their birthday falls, you could base their Cake Smash around whatever is in season. Or maybe the opposite. If they’re a winter baby but love a sunny seaside holiday we can make that happen.
Keep it Classic
Sometimes less is more. Perhaps a more simple Cake Smash is more to your taste. There doesn’t have to be a theme at all. We can base the set up entirely around a colour. Whether your colour choice is just one or two, or even the whole rainbow, whether you prefer pastels or brights. With a few florals or balloons we can make a beautiful Cake Smash session that is just as much fun as a busier one.
Perhaps cake is not for you?
Not everyone is a cake lover. Whether it’s dietary requirements or for personal choice. A lot of little ones aren’t used to super sweet foods, but that’s not a problem. We can adapt the smash to anything you’d like. Perhaps fruit is more to your liking? Watermelon smash, anyone? Sounds good to me. Whatever you choose, there will be lots of fun involved. Whether they eat it, smash it, sit in it or throw it, food-covered fingers, toes and messy little faces are such a joy to capture and it’s always such good fun.
Every Cake Smash is uniquely designed and styled just for you and your little one. So whatever you decide it’ll be as special and unique as your child. And so much FUN!
