Check out Ben’s dino cake smash and splash! Dinosaurs are always a popular theme for little boys and Ben was no exception. After booking in for his studio session Mum and Dad looked through my Pinterest page where I show images from other sessions, and decided that this was the set up for them.
I had previously photographed his big sister Olivia for her first birthday cake smash after his parents won a competition I ran and, “We were so impressed with my daughter’s pictures we knew we would have replicate it for Ben.” As I always say, it’s wonderful to see returning clients, and to see how the little ones have grown.
Ben’s dino cake smash and splash took place one week before his first birthday and Mum and Dad came in with an adorable – and super smart – outfit for Ben… and also for Olivia to wear in some pre-smash images. Then it was onto the smash itself!!!
Ben had so much fun and there was a ton of laughter. He made a quick start and the cake went straight over off the cake stand onto the floor! He loved squishing the butter icing between his fingers as well!!! The personalised romper Mum brought in for Ben to wear was also super cute and matched the session set up perfectly. As with all cake smashes, if siblings are present I involve them too….who doesn’t like cake right? And how hard would it be to watch your younger brother or sister get stuck into a giant cupcake whilst you had to watch from the wings?! Olivia didn’t need asking twice and even helped out Ben by giving him a helping hand, both to feed him as well as herself and Ben didn’t mind one bit!
As you know, with all my cake smashes we finish with a clean up bath and same as with the cake, Ben got stuck in with lots of splashing. Good job I have a vinyl floor which is super easy to clean up afterwards!
This is the only part of the session siblings can’t get involved in as my baths are just too small, but I always give them some special time of their own at the end of the session popping bubbles from my bubble machine whilst Mum and Dad get their sibling dressed.
I am sure Ben slept well that day and I hope he enjoyed a fantastic first birthday. Dino Cake smash and Splash session are definitely one of my more popular themes so I am sure you will be seeing more soon.
