I love Autumn; I love the rich colours, the rustling leaves and the smell of the air. It just makes me so relaxed and happy. So it was such a pleasure to be out and about on location with Thomas and his mum for his Autumn portraits in Leechpool Woods. This is such a wonderful local, outside space. Plenty of trails through the mixed woodland give such a variety of wildlife to enjoy. It’s free to enter and open all year. Definitely worth a visit if it’s in your neighbourhood.
But my favourite time to photograph there is Autumn. The leaves will be changing colour, falling from the trees and making the perfect crunchy carpet. Show me a child (or adult) who doesn’t love to stomp through a pile of rich red and gold leaves. The morning air is crisp and we get to wrap up in colourful woolly jumpers. But without the risk of wintry frostbite.
“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers,” – Anne of Green Gables. So am I, Anne, so am I.
Thomas was stylishly co-ordinated for the woodland shoot. His cosy orange jacket and super cute foxes on his knitted jumper perfectly complemented the season. We also added a couple of natural props to enhance the theme further. We had such a great time in the fresh Autumnal air. Despite him feeling a little under the weather we captured some fabulous images for his mum.
Here is a small selection of my favourite images from Thomas’ Autumn portraits with Samphire Photography xx
