This delightful family were such a pleasure to meet when they brought their gorgeous little boy in to the Samphire studio for his newborn portraits. Although the majority of expectant parents book in with me well before baby arrives, this wasn’t the case this time – baby Kit was already one week old when Mum got in touch, but luckily I was able to find space in my work schedule. And I am so glad I could. What a little poppet!
Kit and his fabulous head of hair totally suited the rich blue mix colour scheme I had chosen, and looked simply adorable in the knitted apple hat. Newborn babies are the most precious thing in the world. When I photograph each one of them, I apply the utmost care and attention to ensure their safety. Many images you see – such as the apple hat – are a composite image made up of several pictures, which ensures that your baby is fully supported at all times and is always handled in the safest manner.
It’s also super important for parents to be photographed with their newborn baby – something I am always more than happy to incorporate into the session. It’s so easy and understandable to give all focus to the precious new arrival but this magical time, as a brand new family, which whizzes by so very quickly is one that should be captured and kept as a treasured memory.

All my newborn clients are invited back to the Samphire studio for a complimentary sitter session. That way I get to see how ‘my’ babies have grown plus also this is probably one of my most favourite ages to photograph babies at. At this stage babies may be sitting up or lifting themselves up onto all fours, bringing opportunities to pose them sitting in our vintage baskets or tin bath tub. These sessions are fun, and focus on capturing the personality of your little one!
