Manny women don’t always feel that great when pregnant. The thought of scrolling through internet pages searching for a maternity photographer near me could be daunting and maybe a little somewhat intimidating. This mummy-to-be was over the moon when she found out she was expecting. But unfortunately her pregnancy turned out to be a little more involved than most. Requiring regular trips to the GP and hospital. This left her wanting to do something special to create good memories of her pregnancy.
Booking in
I initially booked Lucy in for her maternity session when she was around 30 weeks. However, this had to be brought forward when they thought that their baby might make an earlier than planned appearance due to pregnancy complications. So she came in to the Samphire studio at 27 weeks.
For all my maternity sessions I have a wide range of maternity gowns. Most of which come from the amazing maternity dress designer Mii Estilo and we mixed these up amazing with the dresses and vintage kimono robe Lucy has brought in.
The close up image of Lucy in the robe is one of my favourites and it is so delicate it really bring out the feel of her gorgeous pregnancy glow. I know that her collection of maternity images left both Lucy and her partner Dan with great memories. Lucy said at the session that it was really lovely to take some time and do something positive in celebration of the pregnancy.
The Gallery
As you can see here from just a small collection of images from her gallery, they really do have some cherished memories. It is always a great idea to take some time out before your maternity session to have your hair and nails done, as this will add to the specialness of the shoot.
As Lucy had booked in for a Bump to Baby shoot. When beautiful baby Grace made her appearance just over 4 weeks after the maternity session. We definitely had space to fit her in for her very own portraits.
Baby Grace is Here
Little Grace was born early and she spent almost 8 weeks in hospital. But this didn’t mean that we couldn’t obtain some truly amazing newborn images for them. Working with premature babies can often mean the timescale for newborn portraits is a little different. I always decide on whether this will be possible after your little one is born.
Grace was a true star and such a beautiful little girl, totally adored by her parents. We opted for a mix of purples and creams for her session. I wanted to connect her images to her Mum’s maternity portraits. Lucy had selected purple fabric to use and I am so glad she did as she really suits the colours. The images of her holding the little heart is adorable. I am a big fan of a little bit of bling so just had to use a few sparkly headbands too.
She slept through most of her session. Which meant it gave Mum and Dad the chance to relax and enjoy some time together whilst I did all the hard work. Here are a few of my favourite images from her session xx
How you can Help
Most of my newborn sessions involve a lot of chatting and Lucy said how much support they had from the Ronald McDonald House Charity whilst they were staying in London waiting for Grace to be discharged.
If you are not familiar with the charity they provide ‘home away from home’ accommodation. Free of charge for parents or children of all ages who find themselves looking at a prolonged stay in hospital. In fact, their longest residing family used their services for over 2 1/2 years. So you can just imagine the relief of knowing that you have somewhere nearby to stay. That way that you can be there everyday for your children without the worry of travel or accommodation.
There are fourteen houses located nearby specialist children’s hospitals. I know that they rely heavily on donations to keep this wonderful service going. If you would like to donate, please visit this page https://www.rmhc.org.uk/donate/ to see how you can help.
So what is Next
I cant quite believe that as this goes to press I am preparing to have Grace back in to the studio for her First Birthday Cake Smash session. I literally cannot wait! Although I just don’t know where the last year has gone!!!!
