As a baby photographer Sussex, I love photographing babies of any age. But it is newborns which are my all-time favourite. So small and squishy I could happily spend all week 24/7 with these amazing tiny little humans. When returning clients contact me to say they are expecting baby number 2 this always makes me super happy. Not only because I get to see old friends and meet new babies, but also I get to see how their first (or second, or third in some cases) have grown.
This wonderful family are always a joy and this time they joined me 8 days after the birth of their second little girl, Rosie. Of course Poppy, her older sister, came along too! I selected gentle pinks and yellows for Rosie’s newborn session, which suited both her and the time of year her portraits were shot. Super summery!
Little Rosie was a total dream and she looks so much like her beautiful big sister Poppy as well. The session was super smooth and Poppy even joined in at the end with her own baby doll she loved to carry around. We set up a few shots for her and Poppy, being the amazing little girl she is, even got to use my camera!
Here are just a few of my favourite images from the session. You can see just how proud Poppy was to be a big sister too! xx
I couldn’t finish my blog without posting one final image. As you know, this pose is one of my favourites. Although slightly more challenging with siblings, Poppy again rose to the occasion and listened well to my instructions. The end result is this cherished image for Mum and Dad.

Did you know, all my full session newborn clients are invited back to the Samphire studio for a complimentary sitter session? That way I get to see how ‘my’ babies have grown. Plus, this is another of my favourite ages to photograph babies at. At this stage babies may be sitting up or lifting themselves up onto all fours. Bringing opportunities to pose them sitting in our vintage baskets or tin bath tub. These sessions are fun, and focus on capturing the personality of your little one!
