Some babies come early and some not so much. Baby Henry arrived 2 weeks after his due date. I was lucky enough not to have to wait past the due date for any of my three children. But I can imagine those last few days after a due date must be ones spent clock-watching. Not to mention hospital bag checking!
Did you know that only 4% of babies are born on the predicted date itself? Two of mine were, and one was a week early. However, I was induced for all of them so didn’t really have a choice in the matter! But a whopping percentage of babies, over 90%, are born two weeks either side of their predicted date.
Henry’s portraits
My feature image is one I encourage all parents to have taken, even reluctant parents who don’t want to be in any images. It is so important to appear in portraits. I say to all parents that their babies won’t have memories of this time, so the picture you capture now are their future memories. This lovely couple were happy to have their portrait taken. As well as this one, we captured several family portraits for them to cherish.
Ohh and how adorable baby Henry was – super cuddly and just the softest skin. I just love the green tones and textures used in this image and these really worked well for Henry. He looked equally gorgeous against the grey backdrop, used on my bean bag.
I always ask parents before the session if they have any colour preferences. Many clients leave it down to me to choose, however, and I am equally happy either way.
Henry’s Mum and Dad loved the images, “The pictures are beautiful thank you so much ???? ” and here are just a few of my favourite images from Henry’s newborn session xx

Did you know, all my full session newborn clients are invited back to the Samphire studio for a complimentary sitter session? That way I get to see how ‘my’ babies have grown. Plus, this is probably one of my most favourite ages to photograph babies at. At this stage babies may be sitting up or lifting themselves up onto all fours. Bringing opportunities to pose them sitting in our vintage baskets or tin bath tub. These sessions are fun, and focus on capturing the personality of your little one!
