Based in West Sussex and more importantly a photographer Horsham. I love photographing babies. Babies of any age really, but with newborns there is something that really captures me. I don’t know whether it is their vulnerability, how delicate they are, the cuteness of their little noses or their ten tiny toes and little hands that grip. Or maybe is it all of these things. But being blessed and trusted to photograph these teeny tiny little beings is a real honour.
Sessions are scheduled for a provisional date about a week after your due date. New mums often worry that they may not be able to make this date due to little ones arriving early or late. Or sometimes an unexpected prolonged stay in hospital means that you can’t come in straight away. I tell all my mums-to-be not to worry. Booking in just means that you have secured space in my diary. The actual session date only gets confirmed once your little one arrives and you are all back home from the hospital.
This was totally true of Madison. This darling little poppet kept her Mummy waiting almost two weeks past her due date. But I think we can all agree she was most certainly worth the wait. Earlier on in her pregnancy, Mum researched for a photographer Horsham. She then booked in her newborn session with me at the Samphire studio. However, as we got closer to the session date and little Madison hadn’t yet decided to arrive, we easily rescheduled.
Due Dates?
Did you know that figures indicate that a baby is born on its predicted due date just 4% of the time? So, as you can imagine, I move my newborn sessions quite a lot of the time. I rarely work to the original date I have in the diary. So am totally used to it and sessions are often confirmed on a week-by-week basis. You don’t have to worry once you’re booked in, you can leave that all up to me.
Madison
Our newborn session date was when Madison was 8 days old. This is an ideal age for newborn photographs. During the first two weeks, a baby is likely to sleep more soundly and curl up more easily into adorable poses. With the studio at a cosy temperature and little one with a full tummy, even a very awake baby will soon fall into a deep slumber. This enables me to capture the most adorable images for Mum & Dad to treasure. Even if your little one doesn’t sleep, don’t worry. I have over 10 years of photographic experience which means that awake or asleep I guarantee to capture beautiful images of your precious newborn.
Colours
If you have a specific colour you would like me to use, then please do let me know ahead of your session as I always have everything set up and ready to go for when you arrive. Sometimes you might even have an heirloom or special object you would like me to include. Again, not a problem. Just let me know and I will always do my best to incorporate it for you. For Madison, the soft pinks with touches of green are a perfect colour scheme for this special little lady. With a subtle touch of lace and florals, plus the wraps, bonnets, headbands and a super cute felted fawn, it all makes for a very pretty portrait session. I do love this bunny ear headband from Love Rosalie which is simply too adorable for words.
Relaxing
It is not just relaxing for the babies who come into the studio either. Mum and Dad also get to have a little break as I take care of your little one throughout the session. You get to just sit back and relax for a few hours before the super tiring job that is parenting begins again.
So what next?
After the session, editing takes up to 2 weeks and then you are able to view your images from which you can order your treasured wall art or digital images.
Mum & Dad were thrilled with their images. “Your photographs have surpassed all expectations and we couldn’t be happier with them, thank you so much for capturing our little girl so beautifully!” I can tell you all that it was my absolute pleasure, as always.
So many gorgeous images, so hard to choose just a few. As you can see from the gorgeous images I have shared with you all here.
