This beautiful boy was a delight when he came to see me in the Samphire studio recently. He was 3 weeks old when he came for his new baby photoshoot Sussex. To maximise the opportunity to capture the sleepy curled up baby poses, newborn sessions most commonly take place up to 14 days after the birth. Generally, older babies tend to be more awake. But we can still achieve great images. And this gorgeous boy proved exactly that. Just look at him. How cute is he?!
“Nature deficit syndrome is real, and I’m convinced that the woodland setting is the most healing environment there is,” – Tobias Jones, author.
Mum had wanted to incorporate a woodland theme in his newborn session. Oh, I LOVED this idea! Who doesn’t love a woodland walk? Certainly, I do. Being outdoor and close to nature. Among the trees and wonderful wildlife. It also gave me a fantastic opportunity to use some of my adorable needle felted animals. Super cute. Combined with some rich browns and creams in the wraps and layers, with a mix of soft snuggly textures. This gave a fabulous cosy autumnal feel. And was perfect for this little man’s colouring too. It is definitely worth considering the time of year your little one is born and to try and incorporate colours or props which reflect this time of year. Neutral tones such as these are good for both boys and girls. Images on a more neutral colour palette which also fits into most home decor.
All the details…
With every newborn photography session, I always try to capture all those endearing little details with close-ups. For example, tiny toes, delicate fingers, angelic lips and little lashes. Such precious memories for Mum & Dad. This was easy to do as Arlo behaved perfectly throughout. Sleepy and cuddly, the perfect newborn model. Sessions are always led by your baby so no matter whether they are awake or asleep I work with your little one to capture the best and most perfect images for you to keep and treasure forever. With the use of newborn wrapping and posing technics, it means that all my newborn sessions give amazing results. You won’t ever need to be worried about how well your little one may or may not behave. Leave that up to me. Sometimes I get weed and pooped on. Which is probably my least favourite part of the job but sad to say I am used to it and my ever so trustworthy washing machine is my best friend.
I really am used to it all and nothing much phases me anymore. After over 10 years in the business, I really am super relaxed and patient throughout all my sessions.
But I digress…
Back to Arlo and all his little details. Would you just look at his eyelashes….. oh boy! They’re just incredible. For some reason, boys always seem to have the best eyelashes! Definitely, not fair for the girls that is for sure! Just looking at these images makes me feel relaxed and calm which is probably why Arlo slept throughout! Such a beautiful baby boy I am sure he will grow up to be an absolute treasure to his Mum and Dad. I love to see babies as they grow and you always get invited back for a cake smash session for when your little one turned one. This is a great way to celebrate their first year as believe me this time fly by. There is nothing like children in your life to speed up time.
Please ask…
Don’t be scared to ask if there is something you would like time to use….or avoid, for your newborn session. I have such a great supply of all things baby that you won’t be disappointed. From fluffy layers, baskets, bowls and endless wraps. As long as I know I advance of your session? I can have everything, selected, laundered and ready for your newborn portrait session when you come in.
Here is a small selection of my favourite images from Arlo’s newborn session with Samphire Photography. Please feel free to comment or ask anything below and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
