I have been waiting everso patiently for somebody to ask for a Christmas cake smash for simply ages. A cake smash is always fun, whichever them you choose. I have created plenty of different set-ups, each bespoke to my clients’ wishes. But a Christmas smash…? Two of my favourite things, rolled into one. Yes please! So when this lovely little lady came back to visit me at the Samphire studio and Mummy chose a Christmas theme for her second cake smash with me, you can imagine how excited I was. A Christmas Cake Smash – how could this not be fun?!
Babies and parents alike love a Cake Smash photoshoot – but exactly what is a Cake Smash?
I did not need asking twice. Cue the cosy wood cabin, complete with sparkly presents under the tree and rustic bunting. Add in a simply beautiful two-year-old, a couple of party dresses, and one fabulous giant Christmas cupcake. Mix with plenty of bubbles and loads of laughter and… ta-da! One festive fun and super cute Christmas Cake Smash. I couldn’t have had more fun if the smash was for me!
I love to see how ‘my’ babies have grown
No bigger compliment to my work than a returning client. This gorgeous girl came to me for her first birthday cake smash last year, and we had a fabulous woodland fairy toadstool time. A year on, she is still just as fabulous and still making those amazing faces. So beautiful and so expressive! These were priceless and made it so easy for me to capture some really wonderful images for Mum & Dad to treasure, as well as giving everyone some fantastic memories of the day. Such a wonderful way to capture those special moments of her childhood.
Aaliyah was not so bothered about eating her cake in the studio. Most probably because it simply looked too good to eat! And she was having so much fun at her Christmas cake smash party for one. But she certainly enjoyed her bath and all the bubbles afterwards. Most little ones love the splash part of a cake smash & splash photoshoot. After all that cake smashing you can usually expect a big cakey mess! A fun way to clean up afterwards, instead of the usual wipe down, is to have the baby take a bubble bath in a tub filled to the brim with bubbles! Babies love their baths and all those bubbles add to the fun.
However, I do happen to know the totally amazing cake by Mrs B Bakes was scoffed once the little lady got home.
I always guarantee 20 images for all my clients. These get edited and put into a viewing gallery, but there are always soooo many more great images from a cake smash session. Most parents end up viewing many more images! The best thing about this is that if you purchase the whole gallery you get all the images, whether there are 20 or 60, at the same cost!

I know Mum loves her gallery, and so do I. I really. truly do. Check out the short reel of just a few of my favourite images from her Christmas cake smash. I bet you can’t help but smile.
Happy 2nd Christmas Aaliyah xx
It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas
Christmas photography doesn’t have to just be in a cake smash. I offer Christmas Minis Sessions each year. Usually in late October or very early November. Which gives you plenty of time to use your images to make fabulous gifts and pop them under the tree to give to family and friends. These sessions are becoming more & more popular each year and always sell out. Sign up to my mailing list to make sure you get notice of when they’ll be going on sale.
