Hi, I’m Clare, a Horsham portrait photographer based in West Sussex with years of experience. My studio, not far from Worthing, has been open since 2011. In that time I have captured many precious moments from baby bumps through to first year celebrations and beyond.
Now, I have written before about the importance of displaying your images, about how your portraits need to be seen and not simply tucked away in a drawer on a USB. If you have taken the time to invest in professional portrait photography, why are you not displaying your images with pride around your whole house? So this is where WALL ART comes in. Let me tell you about the options I offer and see what would work best for you.
What is Wall Art?
Wall art is the term us photographers use for the images you hang on the wall. But a picture is a picture, right? Well, yes and no. Of course, having your portraits on the wall is wonderful. However, there are many different ways to print and display your images. And I want them to look their absolute best. Which style is right for you will depend on various factors. Personal preference, of course. But also, consider where will it be displayed. Which room of the house? What is the colour scheme there? Will it be among other images or stand out on it’s own? How big would you like your image? Show-stopper huge or discreet and petite. Perhaps somewhere in between.
As a Sussex portrait photographer, my creativity means I know what looks good on the wall. So make the most of my knowledge. Let me help you in providing stunning wall art for your homes. It’s all part of the portrait experience.
So what can I offer you? Let’s look at the different types of wall art.
Canvas Prints
Although I am sure most people know what a canvas looks like, I’m going to cover it anyway. The photographic image is printed on a canvas which is then stretched around a wood frame and varnished. They are widely available in a range of shapes and sizes. And qualities!
The canvas options I offer are printed using the best available fine art materials which are all hand stretched by skilled craftsmen and coated with a unique museum grade UV varnish mix to ensure no yellowing over time. These pieces of wall art are handmade by my framers here in the UK.
They truly are a timeless piece of wall art and are available to order either framed or unframed, tailored to your individual style. An unframed canvas work well with any decor. The framed option sees the canvas set into a custom-made deep frame to create a floating effect, with a choice of colour options, and a range of image sizes. They are a great choice for just about any image as they work so well with newborn photography, cake smash photography, maternity portraits, family portraits. Whether a studio photoshoot or out on location.
Framed Prints
Again, classic styling. Basically, this is exactly how it sounds. A printed photograph, with a mount (border), in a frame. This choice of wall art works well with any image and is equally fabulous displayed on its own or among other wall art.
Your chosen image(s) is printed using crystal archive matte paper and mounted, and then framed. This means that the printed image is of better quality, clarity and colour definition than any high street printer.
Again, these pieces of wall art are handmade by my framers here in the UK. By working with professional framing companies this ensures that once your portraits are printed and hung, they will last you a lifetime.
I offer a wide ranging selection of frames, sizes and colours to suit any decor and create a beautiful addition to your home. A framed print is ideal for displaying all types of photography.
Multi Aperture
Following on perfectly… I also offer multi-aperture framed prints. So these are exactly the same as above but with four, six or nine images in the same frame, rather than just one. Making them just perfect for displaying your Watch Me Grow images and also a Cake Smash photoshoot, but a can’t-go-wrong option for all styles of photography.
With the multi aperture framed prints, the sizes refer to the mount as opposed to the individual images or the frame. I offer these wonderful wall arts 24×24″ to 30×30″ but if you require something different, do get in touch. Custom sizing is available.
Watch Me Grow – Horsham Portrait Photographer
My Watch Me Grow package combines all three of my baby sessions. It is the perfect way to capture your little one’s first few days, months and year.
The Watch Me Grow package includes:
- The newborn session – capturing your precious new baby in their first few weeks.
- The sitter session – for when your little one is sitting confidently and not yet on the move.
- The cake smash & splash – a super fun way to celebrate your little one’s first year.
Images from each session will also compliment each other so that they can be displayed together. Perfect in a multi aperture frame.
Wood Blocks
Unframed but, different to a canvas, your image is printed onto a block of birch wood. This fabulous natural product works brilliantly with many different styles of photography. Inspired by nature, each wood block comes beautifully finished and precision cut by master craftsmen here in the UK. The natural edge pattern of the 18mm thick birch photo block provides a clean, natural finish to the product that perfectly suits outdoor location photography as well as an indoor studio portrait. Each print is sealed to protect it against scratching, moisture and UV fading.
Available in a variety of sizes, these look superb as a stand alone piece of wall art. Or look fantastic as a photowall of 6 blocks, or more!
In Sussex and Surrey there are so many beautiful locations for your photoshoot to chose from – do your prefer sunny shores at Goring beach or the leafy shade at Buchan Park?
Acrylics
An Acrylic piece of wall art is where your printed image is adhered to the back of a piece of high definition acrylic. This gives the piece a glossy, flawless finish, with immaculate depth of colour, sharpness and vibrancy. Just perfect for images from your Cake Smash photography! The piece is fully UV protected and sealed to last a lifetime.
Acrylics are available to order either framed or unframed, both options give a contemporary feel to your portraits. The framed option sees the edges of the frame completely visible which gives the illusion that it is suspended within the frame.

Fine Art
I’m smiling as I type this. I just love these Fine Art pieces and their luxurious finish. They are a real wow piece and definitely are ideal for showing off your favourite portrait. Essentially they are a framed photographic image which is unglazed and so gives more of a painterly feel. The final piece is coated in a protective varnish which protects against UV and scratches whilst still retaining the sumptuous texture of the fine art print. No glass or acrylic is needed to protect your print ensuring that your image is reflection free.
I offer a choice of styles, frame colours and image sizes. This piece of wall art is handmade by my framers here in the UK
Fine Art wall art is equally ideal for newborn photography or family portraits. But simply perfect for my soon-to-be-released signature sessions. These are styled fine art portrait sessions purposely aimed at displaying your images in this way. I am so looking forward to releasing these sessions. As a Horsham portrait photographer this is really exciting for me, so watch this space!
So there you have it. Hopefully a helpful insight into Wall Art and the different options I can offer you. I can’t wait to find out which is your favourite. However, if you’re undecided then do get in touch and let me help you decide which is right for you.
