Clients find me through all manor of ways; personal recommendations, Google searching, Facebook, Instagram etc. This lovely family came to me because I had photographed their eldest son at a local pre-school for their annual pre-school portraits. They contacted me in plenty of time before baby was due so I definitely had space in the diary to fit them in. Then, when little Reuben put in an appearance, they contacted me again so that we could confirm a date. In fact, this little man arrived a few days before his due date. I guess he was keen to see the world and meet his big brother!
Gorgeous blues and greys were the selected colour palette of the day and they suited both boys’ complexions. I know Mummy and Daddy were keen to capture the boys together. This is never a problem and if older siblings are able to attend the session then I always always prioritize these images of siblings together. Whether that is 1, 2 or even 3 (or more!) older siblings. I know as a Mum of three myself how difficult it is to be fair to all your children in equal measure. So attending a newborn session and just coming out with images of your newborn would make most parents a little sad. Not to mention grandparents and other family members who treasure those images of all the children together.
Such beautiful boys too. I particularly love Reuben’s little pouty lips in the compilation below. Closely followed by the one of him in wrapped up in the top right. This wrap is called an egg wrap, and I am sure you can see why. Felted layers as always the from amazing Cwtchi Coo, based in Wales.
Here are a few images from Reuben’s newborn session. Enjoy xx

Did you know, all my newborn clients are invited back to the Samphire studio for a complimentary sitter session? That way I get to see how ‘my’ babies have grown. Plus also this is probably one of my most favourite ages to photograph babies at. At this stage babies may be sitting up or lifting themselves up onto all fours. Bringing opportunities to pose them sitting in our vintage baskets or tin bath tub. These sessions are fun, and focus on capturing the personality of your little one!
