Due Date Dilemmas
Many people are unsure how to go about booking a Sussex newborn photographer when due dates are not set in stone. Well, there is no need to worry. All you have to do is give me your due date and you can leave the rest up to me. Once booked in, I just need to know when your little one does make an appearance and I then confirm the session date with you once you are back home.
As we know, babies rarely arrive on their expected due date. They like to keep us on our toes. It is only an estimated date of when they might arrive. In fact, only 1 in 25, that’s a tiny 4%, actually arrive on their exact due date. So your full-term pregnancy can be anywhere between 37 and 42 weeks. A whopping 60% are born within a week either side of their predicted date. It is far more common for twins, and particularly triplets, to arrive early.
So do not worry. Completing a booking form and returning your booking fee secures your space in my diary. I don’t over-book which means that I will always have space to fit you in. Whether your little one is early or late, or even right on schedule!
Maia
Mum requested a gorgeous palette of dusky pinks, whites, neutrals and purple for their newborn session. I also added in a touch of blue in too, for a little something extra. It is such a great colour on baby girls, and suited this little poppet perfectly. We ended up with such a great gallery for Mum and Dad. Below are are some of my favourite images from Maia’s session and you can see what a cutie she is. I just love the wide awake shot which is my feature image above. Simply beautiful! It feels as though she is looking directly into your soul.
Have a look at Maia’s portraits and some of my other newborn images by clicking on my newborn Pinterest page and also my Instagram feed.
Lots of people also ask where I gather my extensive prop collection from and the answer is all over. Some from suppliers, such as the woodland bark bowl from Dutch Style and some from vintage shops where I am often found browsing, in and around Sussex. As long as the prop is safe with nothing sticking out or sharp to hurt little ones then that is fine. This bucket is one such find and I just love it.
Mum and Dad loved the images. They said, “Thank you so much for the shoot [it] was such a lovely day and we love the images. Will def be booking cake smash when she turns one.”
I can’t wait for her cake smash session either! xx

Sitter Session
Did you know, all my full session newborn clients are invited back to the Samphire studio for a complimentary sitter session? That way I get to see how ‘my’ babies have grown. Plus also this is probably one of my most favourite ages to photograph babies at. At this stage babies may be sitting up or lifting themselves up onto all fours, bringing opportunities to pose them sitting in our vintage baskets or tin bath tub. These sessions are fun, and focus on capturing the personality of your little one!
