Mum & Dad wanted some portraits of their sweet baby girl and knew that Samphire Photography was an experienced newborn photographer West Sussex. And oh, oh, oh, Olivia! Aren’t you simply beautiful? This adorable little lady came to see me in the Samphire studio for her newborn portraits when she was not quite two weeks old. This is an ideal age for a newborn session. It gives us maximum opportunity to capture the adorable, sleepy, curled-up baby poses. And we did exactly that.
Sweet Olivia was an absolute dream to photograph. We used a super pretty mix of soft purples and greens, with textured knits and layers, and the sweetest little felted fawn. I captured plenty of wonderful images for Mum & Dad to treasure. As always, I included some close-ups of those tiny lips and lashes, fingers and toes. It’s these little details, these nuggets of cuteness that you can’t believe were ever that small and oh so simply perfect, that are so important to capture and keep.
Siblings
Olivia was also accompanied to the studio by her beautiful big sister Caitlyn, and so of course we included her in some of the images too. I think Caitlyn enjoyed the session just as much as I did and this shines through in her gorgeous smile. I love the two of them together, both wearing headbands and halos, a picture of sisterly love.
Mum & Dad were absolutely delighted with the portraits, I hope you like them too.

Have a look at Olivia’s portraits and some of my other newborn images, by clicking on my newborn Pinterest page. If you see a particular image here or on my Instagram feed that you would like me to try to replicate in your session, do let me know. It may not always be possible but I will try my very best for you. Some poses require a more sleepy baby to achieve them. If your little one is a touch more sensitive then some poses may not be possible. I will never distress a baby for the sake of one image.
Composites
Caitlyn was so well-behaved and incredibly caring in her big sister role. She was able to follow my instructions and this made it easier for me to capture images of the two sisters together. However, this is not always the case!
Sometimes it’s because the age gap between the two (or more) siblings means they are not able to follow instructions that easily. Other times an older sibling is struggling to adapt to the changes a new addition to the family can bring. Not always though. Sometimes children just don’t follow instructions regardless of how old they are. And as baby safety is paramount in the Samphire studio that means that sometimes I have to use a bit of magic in the editing room to create an image. A composite image is a combination of two or more photographs, edited together to look as if they are one. This means that Mum & Dad will have an adorable image of their children together.
